R.I.P. Roscoe
Sunday, January 30th, we got home from skiing and right away I started taking down Christmas decorations so everything would be done in time to sit and watch the Broncos play Kansas City at 2:00 pm. At 3:00 pm it was time to go get our dogs from being boarded while we were away. Kurt left and came back saying Roscoe just wasn't right. I went out and was trying to get Roscoe to lie down or drink something and he wouldn't do either. Then Kurt thought he would give him a real treat and give him some hotdog. But that didn't even work! Roscoe is one to never turn down a treat! Kurt called the vet back where we have always boarded our dogs and asked if they noticed Roscoe had been acting different. We did get a paper back saying they gave the dogs Influenza shots and that they could be lethargic after that but they had gotten the shot on the 27th and shouldn't still be like that. We kept an eye on Roscoe and could tell there was something definitely wrong and so Kurt and Collin took him to the Emergency Vet and they did an x-ray and said that Roscoe had a twisted stomach. It was twisted all the way to his spine! They said they could do surgery but didn't think Roscoe would make it through that. Kurt had to make a tough decision and called me. It was such a hard decision but in the end we decided to put Roscoe down. We will miss him very much as he brought us lots of laughter and fun! We LOVE you Roscoe!! We know your 10 year old body needed a rest and now you can play with Cooler and Cody and even chase Maddie around!
